Safe zones, explained
A safe zone is the part of a picture every device shows and nothing covers. Keep your name, face and logo inside it.
- YouTube banners show whole only on a TV. A computer shows a strip across the middle (2560 × 423), and a phone shows a narrower one: 1546 × 423 in the middle is the only part everyone sees.
- Stories, reels and TikTok covers have the account name at the top, the caption and reply bar at the bottom, and the like and share buttons down the right edge. Keep text in the middle.
- X, Bluesky and LinkedIn headers put your profile picture over the bottom left. Keep that corner empty.
- SoundCloud and Spotify headers lose their sides on a phone. Keep things in the middle.
Preview your picture on every platform at once
- Open the Social preview.
- Drop a picture. It shows in every format, grouped by platform.
- Click a tile to frame it. Drag to move, slide or scroll to zoom, and keep what matters inside the dashed safe zone.
- Use Fit to show the whole picture with a Blur or Color backdrop, or Fill to cover the frame.
- Pick JPG, PNG or WebP, then press Download for one size or All 30 for a zip.
Each format remembers its own framing, so moving the YouTube banner doesn't change your story. When a platform has a file limit, the quality is lowered for you until the file fits.
For just SoundCloud, the SoundCloud banner maker opens on the banner, profile picture and track artwork. See SoundCloud banner size.
JPG, PNG or WebP?
- JPG for photos and painted cover art. Small files, taken everywhere.
- PNG for flat graphics, logos and sharp text. No blur around letters, but bigger files.
- WebP for websites and platforms that take it. Smaller than JPG at the same quality.
When unsure, export JPG. SoundCloud, for one, takes only JPG and PNG.
Do it from a track in Aden
Your release art is already on your track:
- Open the track and hover its cover art.
- Open the … menu.
- Download saves the art as Original, JPG, PNG or WebP.
- Sizes for socials opens the same editor with every format, using the track's art. Download one size, or all of them.
The manual way in Photoshop
- Make one artboard per size you need (File > New, then the artboard tool), named after the platform.
- Place your art on each artboard and scale it to cover. Add guides for each safe zone.
- File > Export > Export As, select every artboard, pick JPG or PNG, and export them in one go.
- Check each file against the limit in the tables above.
PhotoCraft is a free alternative that works the same way.
FAQ
What image sizes do musicians need for social media?
Most artists need cover art (3000 × 3000), an Instagram post (1080 × 1350), a story or reel (1080 × 1920), a YouTube banner (2560 × 1440), an X header (1500 × 500) and a SoundCloud banner (2480 × 520), plus a square profile picture per platform.
What size is a YouTube channel banner?
2560 × 1440 pixels, up to 6 MB. Keep everything that matters in the 1546 × 423 area in the middle: that part shows on TVs, computers and phones.
What size is an Instagram post in 2026?
1080 × 1350 (4:5) for the most space in the feed. Your profile grid shows posts at 3:4, so a 1080 × 1440 post shows whole there. Square posts are 1080 × 1080.
What size is a Spotify artist header?
2660 × 1140 pixels, up to 20 MB. Phones crop the sides and your name sits over the bottom left, so keep faces in the middle.
Where is the safe zone on a story or reel?
Keep text out of the top 250 pixels and the bottom 420 pixels of a 1080 × 1920 story, and away from the right edge on TikTok, where the buttons sit.
Should I export JPG, PNG or WebP for social media?
JPG for photos and cover art, PNG for flat graphics and text, WebP where a platform or website accepts it. JPG is the safe default.
How do I make every size from one picture?
Drop it on the free Social preview, adjust the formats you care about, and press All 30 to download a zip of every size.
