How to pick brand colors as an artist
To pick brand colors, open the free Brand colors tool, press Shuffle until a starter palette feels like your music, change the accent until it feels like yours, and check that ink on base says Text. Press Copy for the hex codes and add them to Aden under Settings → Website → Brand colors, accent first. The tool is free, runs in your browser and needs no account.
Why three colors, and why contrast matters, is in Why recognizable colors make your music easier to remember.
The three roles
- Base. Backgrounds and large areas, about 60% of what people see. Usually very light or very dark.
- Ink. Your name, titles and text, about 30%. It has to read on the base.
- Accent. The color people remember, about 10%. One button, one logo mark, one shape on the cover.
Pick them step by step
- Open tools.aden.space/colors. It starts on a palette that already works.
- Press Shuffle to go through the starter palettes. Stop at the one closest to the mood of your music.
- Click the Accent swatch and move it until it feels like yours. Try the color next to the one your genre expects: an electric blue where everyone uses hot pink.
- Adjust Ink and Base if you need to, by clicking their swatch or typing a hex code.
- Look at the artist page in the middle. It wears your palette the way your website would.
Check the contrast
Under the preview, every pair shows its contrast ratio and what it can carry:
- Text (4.5:1 or more): bios, tour dates, anything small.
- Headlines (3:1 or more): big titles and buttons.
- Shapes only (below 3:1): keep words off this pair.
Ink on base must say Text. If a line warns that two colors look alike, change one of them until the warning goes away.
Use the same three everywhere
- Press Copy. The hex codes for base, ink and accent are on your clipboard.
- In Aden, open Settings → Website for your team and add them under Brand colors, accent first. Your public profile, website templates, brand page and press kit use them.
- Use them on your covers, posts, stories, video and merch too. Same three, every time.
Aden checks your colors when you pick them there too. When two look alike or nothing would be readable, one line under the swatches says what to change, and the palette button next to + offers starter palettes.
