When to apply: 1 March and 1 September

Who can apply

Alberta residents for at least one full year, living in the province six months or more each year
Individuals and ensembles that are not incorporated; all co-owners such as band members must also be residents
In good standing with the AFA, with all earlier final reports approved
Not for capital purchases, CD pressing, or work done for course credit

How to apply

Email registrationafa@gov.ab.ca five business days before the deadline to get a GATE Front Office login

Complete the online forms in GATE Front Office: applicant details, project description, co-owners and budget

Upload a resume of up to four pages, a detailed project description and two music samples of up to 5 minutes

Submit before the deadline and before the project starts, with one application per deadline

An expert panel reviews it and the AFA board decides, usually four to six months after the deadline
